What I take on

Historic restoration

Moisture and salt, failed cement parging, lime plaster and wash, period trim, sash repair, breathable finishes. Stop the peel cycle instead of hiding it for a season.

Porches & porticos

Structure first. Then copper flashing, linseed oil paint, frieze and brackets that belong to the house.

Timber structures

Pavilions, pergolas, outdoor rooms. Hand-planed faces, visible joinery, shake or metal roofs.

Decks, stairs, railings

Wood or mixed. Stainless through a solid post. Stairs you trust in January.

Cedar & cladding

Shingles, slat screens, vertical wrap. Tight reveals. Flashing that sheds water.

Millwork & joinery

Casing, base, brackets, repairs where a catalogue piece will never sit right.

Ottawa and surrounding communities. Heritage streets, older homes, custom outdoor work — not volume tract housing.

No fake checkout. Jobs are quoted on paper, then a deposit lands by Interac e-Transfer. Card processing can be added later if a client needs it — it is not live today.

Founder of Poling Custom Building & Restoration, a division of Whitesand Aerogel Inc. Twenty-five years in forestry, custom building, and Ottawa / Northern construction. Working tradesman first: plasterer, carpenter, stone and concrete, restorer.

The company is 100% Indigenous-owned. Work is taken in Ottawa and the surrounding area — jobs you can stand on a porch and point at.
